Update about The Co-op bookstore: The University’s Co-Op Bookshop will be closing and transitioning to an online service – Booktopia. Pre-ordered texts for students will be still be available from the Co-Op Bookshop in the lead up to Semester start and until around mid-March. Any late orders for textbooks should be sent to: email@example.com. Course readers will now not be printed by the Co-Op Bookshop, and alternate arrangements for printing these will be made available shortly. In the meantime please consider the use of the Readings Online service.
Students can purchase their own copy of a published eTextbook and online reading via our two eText platforms, VitalSource Bookshelf and Perusall.
To provide students with this option, academics can link directly to eTextbook versions of prescribed or recommended readings via the LMS. Students will be able to purchase or rent (when available) titles they wish.
eTexts are instantly accessible and offer interactive features such as text searching, annotation, note taking and highlighting options. They also provide academics with access to reading and usage statistics.
Perusall extends the normal eTextbook platform by providing a platform for students to collectively read and comment in groups on readings uploaded by the teaching staff or textbook chapters. If you would like assistance with exploring this feature of Perusall please contact Learning Environments.
Note: Purchasing eTextbooks through either platform does not guarantee that students will pay the lowest price. Promotional or discounted pricing may be available through alternative sources such as direct purchase through publisher websites. However such purchases may not provide students with the same functionalities or ease of purchase through the LMS.
