Key 58: Biochemistry 1938/Biochemistry Building 1958
In 1938 William J. Young, who had been in charge of the subject since 1919, was appointed foundation Professor of Biochemistry in the Medical School.
In 1944 an offer of £50,000 from Russell Grimwade made it possible for the energetic new professor. It was opened in 1958, but not completed until 1961. The School would later encompass Molecular Biology.
