Status
Active since 1 January 2023 (for articles accepted during the term of the agreement).
Current agreement term
1 January 2026 - 31 December 2026.
Summary
University of Melbourne corresponding authors are eligible for a 20% APC discount in Sage's fully open access journals (Gold journals). For included titles, see Sage's gold journal title list, reflected in our spreadsheet of all journals with APC discounts.
Eligible authors
To be eligible, the article's corresponding author must, at the time of submission, provide their University of Melbourne affiliation. This must be their first and primary affiliation in the publishing system and in the article itself.
How to use the discount
When possible, corresponding authors should use their unimelb email address (@unimelb.edu.au or @student.unimelb.edu.au). This email address should be used in the publisher's submission platform and all correspondence. This allows for easy verification of affiliation.
Sage has provided the following advice: "During the submission of the article, the submitting author is responsible for correctly identifying the institutional affiliation of all authors, to identify the corresponding author, and to provide institutional email addresses. When entering an institutional affiliation, Sage provides the author with suggested matches during this process. The author is responsible for selecting the appropriate match." (CAUL)
Related agreement
The University's Read and Publish agreement with Sage covers select hybrid journals. Using this agreement, University of Melbourne corresponding authors can avoid APCs for open access publishing in hybrid titles.
