RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry)
Discount
15% discount on open access Article Processing Charges (APCs).
Status
Active (for articles accepted during the term of the agreement).
Current agreement term
1 January 2026 - 31 December 2026.
Summary
University of Melbourne corresponding authors can receive a 15% APC discount when publishing open access in hybrid Royal Society of Chemistry journals. RSC's fully open access journals are not eligible for this discount.
Discounted APCs will be displayed when you select "The University of Melbourne" as your institution in RSC's Journal Finder. Eligible titles are reflected in our spreadsheet of all journals with APC discounts.
Eligible authors
To be eligible, the article's corresponding author must, at the time of submission, provide their University of Melbourne affiliation.
How to use the discount
When possible, corresponding authors should use their unimelb email address (@unimelb.edu.au or @student.unimelb.edu.au). This email address should be used in the publisher's submission platform and all correspondence. This allows for easy verification of affiliation.
In your article acceptance email, opt for "gold open access publication" with a Creative Commons licence. The institution discount should be applied automatically at the "payment options" step. For step-by-step guidance, see: RCS APC discount for UoM corresponding authors - workflows (PDF).
