A corresponding author has the authority to represent their co-authors in all publication related matters with ACM and is responsible for the completion of the ACM rights assignment process." (CAUL)

How to use the agreement

When possible, corresponding authors should use their unimelb email address (@unimelb.edu.au or @student.unimelb.edu.au). They should provide this in the publisher's submission platform and use it for correspondence. ACM's eRights system will match the email domain to the University of Melbourne agreement.

If the corresponding author is unable to provide a unimelb email address, they should contact ACM before completing the eRights Form. This will ensure the article is properly affiliated and covered under the agreement.

Authors will be required to provide their ORCID upon article submission.  ACM uses the corresponding author's employment details in ORCID as a secondary means of confirming affiliation, when necessary. We encourage authors to ensure their ORCID affiliations are up-to-date (see instructions here).

When selecting a "rights assignment" option during the publishing process, select ACM's "Institutionally Paid Open Access/Permission Release" option. This provides ACM with a non-exclusive license to publish the article under a CC BY licence.

For details on how to publish open access using the ACM agreement, see the "Open access workflow" section of teh agreement's CAUL R&P Guide page.
