Library Memberships

The University of Melbourne is currently transitioning to a new library system. As a result, new Community Memberships are temporarily unavailable. We anticipate new Community Members will be able to join in late July 2026.

Please check this page in late July for updates on when Community Memberships will be available.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If you are already a member, there will be a new way to log in to your library account, starting from 29 June 2026.

Not a current student or staff member at the University of Melbourne?

Visitors are welcome to use our public access kiosks at branch libraries to search the library and access physical items and some of our electronic resources. Visitors can also use our printers and multifunction devices as guest users.

To borrow our print books and physical items, become a member of the library community. All Australian residents are eligible, including alumni, university-affiliated organisations, CAVAL and ULANZ.

Note: Library visitors and community members do not have access to wifi, library computers, interlibrary loans, high-use print books and some electronic resources.
