ERC Collections

University of Melbourne Library provides collections in a range of formats and locations that teaching, learning and research needs of undergraduate students, graduate students, and researchers. The Eastern Resource Centre provides a central location for the most recent and most used monographs and reference works that support the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT)
  • Faculty of Science
  • Asia Institute, Faculty of Arts

Science & Engineering Collection

The focus of this collection is to support research and study in the following areas:

  • Engineering
  • Computing and Information Sciences
  • Information Technology
  • Biological, chemical and physical sciences

Textbooks, Prescribed and Recommended Readings for students studying Engineering and/or Science subjects are located in multiple libraries, depending on their content.  To locate prescribed hardcopy textbooks, check in the library catalogue via

East Asian Collection

The East Asian Collection is divided into General and Rare collections. Both are fully searchable via the Library Catalogue.

The General East Asian Collection primarily services the information, research and teaching needs of the Faculty of Arts. It is housed on levels 2 and 3 of the ERC Library, and focuses on contemporary Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language books and reference works, with subject coverage mainly in the areas of arts and humanities, social sciences and architectural conservation.
