Digital maps (eg. Google Maps)

If you use a mapping tool like Google Maps to see a specific area, in the “Title of source” slot, place a description of the area displayed.

Additional publication information can sometimes be gleaned from the landing page for the map or from other informational pages on the website, as in the following example.

Format for in-text citation

For the in-text citation, provide the author's surname. If there is no author, use the title of the map.

In-text citation example

...in Harley St, near the corner of Cavendish Street, not far from the literary centre, Bloomsbury (Hector Berlioz).

Elements, punctuation & capitalisation

Author. Description of place. Title of Map. URL, Accessed date.
