It is only possible to use the app to add items to your library.

Other features such as generating citations and bibliographies are in development.

Add items to your Zotero library

There are a number of options for adding items to your Zotero library in the Android app.

  • Tap the plus sign (+) in the centre bottom of the Zotero app.
  • Select how you want to add an item ( by identifier, scan barcode, manually, create a note or add a file).
  • Enter the required information into the fields provided.

1. Save by Identifier (DOI, ISBN, etc.):

  • Open the Zotero app.
  • Tap the the plus sign (+) button
  • Choose Save by identifier and add the DOI, ISBN, etc .
  • Select Look Up
  • Enter the DOI, ISBN, or other identifier and press Enter.
  • Zotero will then look up the metadata and add the item to your library.

2. Scan the barcode of books to add them to your library.

  • From the adding items menu, select Scan barcode
  • Scan the barcode from the back cover of a book
  • Select the item

3.  Add the details manually

  • Select Add manually
  • Select the item type
  • Fill in the required details
