Description
[The Wall work]
The site-specific sculpture was conceived as an endlessly changing interactive light panel. The physical panel (created of fibreglass in a 'laying up' process) is one aspect of the work (the highly visible element of the work) however the artwork also had a hidden digital component. Artwork specific software was developed to deliver parcels of data every 15 minutes to the project specific lights ( visible in the photographs).
It is a real shame, and for a long time I have carried a certain amount of disappointment, that the VCA never committed to the necessary ongoing care digital artworks require,
hence for many years the work has not "functioned" as it was intended to. - Andrew Hazewinkel, 9/5/23 via email.Artists / Sculptors
