Spotlight On: Landscape and memory in Hertha Kluge-Pott's prints

Discover the prints of Hertha Kluge-Pott, a prolific Berlin-born, Melbourne-based artist whose moody and distinctive interpretations of the Australian landscape possess a post-war German aesthetic. Kluge-Pott's’ works, primarily in intaglio, depict bold and vibrant life forms from the panoramic to the minute, with a focus on Australia’s coastal flora. Contemporary art critic and historian Dr Victoria Perin, a specialist in post-war art and printmaking, spent time visiting the artist, and working with her archive, in the years preceding her death. Join Dr Perin for this Spotlight program as she shares personal insights into Kluge-Pott's life and work – from the artists’ biography and experience of migration to distinct periods throughout her career. Selected prints and plates from the Prints and Drawings collection will be on display, presented by Sally Foster, Curator, Prints and Drawings.
