Join the Rare East Asian Curator, Shiqiu Liu, for a special behind the scenes viewing of a set of replica stone rubbings taken from second century carvings on shrines and tombs in Northern China.

The rubbings depict the dreamed world after death created by the early Chinese, along with anecdotes of model figures who symbolise a Confucian ideal promoted by scholars who were becoming influential figures in Chinese society at the time.

About the collection:

The Rare East Asian Collection holds over 20,000 items ranging from the 17th to the 21st century, on topics such as history, literature, fine arts, traditional medicine, religion, linguistics, education, gender studies, politics, architecture, craft and design. It consists of books, scrolls, realia, stone rubbings, and ephemera, and is home to four major collections: The Harry Simon Collection, The Thomas Chong Collection, The R.F.
