To compliment Assemblage: Recent acquisitions to the Archives and Special Collections, currently on display in the Noel Shaw Gallery, Sally Foster (Curator of Prints and Drawings), will be bringing out a selection of prints, illustrated books and artist’s journals from the newly acquired Constant Collection.

Dating from 1944 to 1985, the collection contains more than 40 scarce and limited edition prints and books relating to the Dutch avant-garde artist Constant Anton Nieuwenhuy’s (1920-2005) time as a member of various influential European experimental art, architecture, design and literary movements including the Experimental Group, CoBrA, the Situationists International (SI), and New Babylon.

Join Sally, who will talk about the material qualities and ‘hand-made’ aesthetic that was central in the work of Constant and his collaborators Aldo van Eyck, Willem Sanberg, Guy Debord and Asger Jorn.

This free public program forms part of our Collection Pop Up series. You can find upcoming Collection Pop Up events on our What's On page.
