Join Sally Foster, Prints Curator, for a close look at the stunning works of early sixteenth century Dutch artist, Lucas van Leyden behind the scenes in the Print Room.

A comparison between the two impressions of The temptation of Christ 1518 by Lucas van Leyden held in the University of Melbourne Print Collection, offers a rare opportunity to study first hand both the artist’s unique working method and the complications that arise when attempting to make an assessment of the qualitative value of the prints based on the conventions of traditional print connoisseurship and art histories ideal standards of excellence.

About the collection:

The Print Collection includes approximately 9,000 individual works of art, encompassing prints (engravings, woodcuts etc.) and print albums, drawings, paintings, tools and books including works by renowned artists as Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt and William Hogarth.
