Finding the right digital infrastructure, resources & expertise to accelerate your data-intensive research

The University’s network of research platforms is available to you, whether you are a graduate researcher or an academic researcher at the University. Our platform technologies range from advanced microscopy to cultural informatics, and metabolomics to health economics, and are supported by expert platform technologists. In this session, representatives from several of our research infrastructure platforms will introduce their offerings, with an emphasis on digitally intensive research, and put these in the context of the broad range of resources and expertise available.


Prof Liz Sonenberg - Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Infrastructure and Systems)

Liz is a professor in the School of Computing and Information Systems. As Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Infrastructure and Systems) in Chancellery Research and Enterprise, she has responsibility for policy frameworks regarding the planning of university-wide research infrastructure.


Dr Lauren Hyde - Research Infrastructure Strategy Adviser, Research and Enterprise

Lauren is the Research Infrastructure Strategy Adviser in Chancellery Research and Enterprise and former Manager of the Materials Characterisation and Fabrication Platform at the University of Melbourne.

Assoc Prof Daniel Park - Academic Lead, Melbourne Bioinformatics

Danny is Academic Lead at Melbourne Bioinformatics within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences.

Prof Richard Sinnott - Melbourne eResearch Group, PRESS

Rich is Professor of Applied Computing Systems in the School of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology.

Sean Crosby - Team Lead, High Performance Computing, Research Computing Services
