In this conversation Dr Andi Horvath will discuss the podcasting as medium for communicating research with Louisa Lim and Jeremy Story Carter. Drawing on their experiences as podcast hosts, producers and journalists, they will explore identifying your niche and connecting with a target audience to make your research accessible, their thoughts on the elements of a successful podcast, publishing practicalities and promotion to engage and building loyal listeners. This session will entertain you and help you to decide if podcasting is the medium for you. There will be time for some questions.

Dr Andi Horvath is Podcasting coordinator for External Relations at the University of Melbourne. A former 3RRR broadcaster and ABC segment presenter she loves to share stories about science and culture. She currently hosts Eavesdrop on Experts for the University of Melbourne.

Louisa Lim is a senior lecturer in audio visual journalism at the Centre for Advancing Journalism and former China correspondent for the BBC and NPR. She is the co-host of Little Red Podcast which won the 2018 News and Current Affairs podcast of the year, at the Australian Podcast Awards, as well as host of a teaching podcast called the Masterclass.

Jeremy Story Carter is a digital journalist for ABC Investigations, based in Melbourne. He has worked at Radio National, ABC Rural and was a producer on the Walkley Award winning podcast Trace.
