Digital perspectives: The art and science of visualisation and visual practices. Two events exploring cutting-edge digital visualisation and digital arts practice to communicate research to new and expanded audiences. The keynote and showcase draw upon data-driven visualisation projects, emerging technologies, and interdisciplinary arts practice. Be inspired by our Keynote speakers and our diverse Showcase exhibitors.

Sounding Finnegan’s Wake. The creation of sound art through considering Joyce’s text as a sonic, not textual, work. Dr. Roger Alsop (Lecturer in Sound, VCA-MCM Production).

Visualising Pacific Language Diversity. The Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures (PARADISEC) holds material from nearly 1100 languages, with audio records making up much of the collection. In this display we use Virtual Reality to put you in a map of the region, with audio samples passing by as you move over the landscape. Dr. Nick Thieberger. Digital Daisy Bates. Paper-based vocabularies of Australian Aboriginal languages created by Daisy Bates in the early 1900s have been available in libraries for some time. Our project has typed them, digitised the page images, and put them together online as will be shown in this display. Dr. Nick Thieberger (ARC Future Fellow in Language Documentation and a Chief Investigator in the Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language). Global Credit Risk Network. An empirical network model to study the credit risk spillover between financial institutions and sovereigns during the GFC and European Debt Crisis. ConneX: Contextual Network Explorer. ConneX is a tool for producing network graph visualisations of data sets to understand, explore and present complex networks of the relations between entities that establish the context for understanding archival evidence. Shakespeare. Virtual Reality. The Arts eLearning/eTeaching unit supports Faculty of Arts teaching staff with integrating technology in their teaching and learning to stimulate learning, enhance engagement and interactivity and to developing innovative teaching resources. Epilepsy and the Brain's Internal Clock. Explore the influence of the circadian rhythm on the likelihood of an epileptic seizure. Using Images as Data and Data as Images for 2D and 3D Visualisation. The 2017 Researcher@Library Week ePoster Competition gives graduate research students an opportunity to build their communication skills and pitch their research to a wide audience.
