Memberships for the general public

We offer the following membership options which are available to anyone and allow you to borrow 10 items with 28 day loan periods including media items.

Note: Membership is limited to low use print materials and does not include access to electronic resources or inter-library loans.  Information on borrowing limits

However, members of the general public can visit one of our library branches to access many of our online resources via a public access kiosk. These resources are made available in the library branches under licences provided by the publishers. Library staff can direct you to our public access kiosk computers.

Please note, no general internet browsing, access to external email or word processing is available.

To apply, complete the form and then take the form and some photo ID to one of the libraries listed below.

Registration and payment

You can register and pay in person at the Baillieu, Law, Giblin Eunson or ERC libraries by EFTPOS or credit card (we do not accept American Express or Diners Club).

Concession rates

You are entitled to a concession rate if you:

  • Are a Friends of the Baillieu member.
  • Are an alumnus of the University (including the Victoria College of the Arts), Melbourne Business School and Melbourne University Private.
  • Have a concession, pension or health care card.

You need to supply appropriate documentation to get a concession rate.
