Library Services - COVID Update


Information about current Library Services available to students, staff and the broader University community.

Visiting the library

  • University of Melbourne Staff and Students

    The Baillieu Library is currently open to all visitors who meet the University's COVID-19 vaccine requirements. Our other libraries currently remain closed but our Virtual Library Service continues.

    Due to required infrastructure works, Baillieu Library will be closed from 11 -12 December; Giblin Eunson Library will be available as a study space on these days.

    To enter a Library building, all University staff and students must:
    • be fully vaccinated* or have an authorised medical exemption
    • check-in with the Service Victoria QR code
    • show proof of vaccination status
    • carry University ID and swipe into the building
    • carry a mask at all times and wear them as per current advice from the Victorian government
    • maintain 1.5m physical distancing.

  • Non-University Visitors

Collection Access

  • Reading Room

    The Reading Room is open to all eligible readers Monday to Friday by appointment.

  • Borrowing in Person

    General collection items from the Baillieu Library can be borrowed in person using self-checkout machines. Items from other branches are currently only available via the Print Retrieval Service.

    Please note the Baillieu Library High Use collection is closed.

  • Print Retrievals

    The Library has several options to provide you with access to our print resources. This includes scan and email, and express post. Please refer to our Print Resources webpage for further details.

  • Sourcing Online Resources
