Borrowing from the Collection

Archives and Special Collections materials cannot be borrowed by individuals but are available for use by appointment in the Baillieu Library Reading Room. However, we welcome requests from museums and galleries to borrow items for short term exhibition. Requests should be received 6 months prior to the commencement date of the exhibition. Loans are administered by the Collections Management team.

  • Preparing your loan request

Borrowers are encouraged to conduct research to select items for loan. During this research phase we recommend recording all data such as reference numbers, call numbers, author, title, dates, and page openings to help identify your requested items.

Search the collections or contact us for more information.
