There has been much talk about openness in scholarly communication, but the move towards open is just one of a number of converging trends – all of which are taking us toward a more discoverable, connected and interoperable literature. These trends are changing the way that academics access research and will also have implications for what are considered authoritative sources of information for teaching and learning. They are also an important part of ensuring the integrity of the academic literature – and which will lead to it being more reproducible. But the increasing complexity of publishing has left many wondering how to navigate it. This talk will discuss emerging issues and what the future of publishing might look like.
