Repository Tour of the University of Melbourne Archives
University of Melbourne Archives repository, 120 Dawson Street, Brunswick
The University of Melbourne Archives holds over 20km of historical records, dating back to the 1600s and from all over the world. This is your chance to explore our repository, which is not usually open to researchers. Discover giant ledgers, early calculators, lantern slides, parchment indentures and, of course, thousands of boxes documenting our past.
Presenter: Katie Wood.
Katie Wood has been working at the University of Melbourne Archives as a reference archivist for nearly 10 years. She has helped thousands of researchers navigate their way around UMA's vast and sometimes unorganised collections. She is currently researching those collections herself for a phd thesis on a history of the experience of women workers in the metal trades.
NOTE: The repository is multi-story and has grate flooring on the upper levels. The ground floor is accessible, but if you experience mobility issues please contact the organisers beforehand and we can arrange the tour accordingly.
