General Books collection

The general book collection is located in the main section of the library and collection strength include plant taxonomy; botanical floras; plant propagation; weed science; soil science; garden design; garden history; conservation and restoration management; horticultural plants; and amenity horticulture.

LFR Collection

The LFR collection was relocated to the Burnley Library in 2007. It contains books from the former Agriculture Library at the Parkville Campus. New material is not being added to this collection.

Reference Collection

The collection of reference books includes encyclopaedias, atlases, dictionaries and copies of plant, insect and weed identification books. The items in this collection are not available for loan.

Reserve Collection

The collection includes high use books, horticultural project reports and honors and masters theses. The items in this collection are available for a 2 hour loan for use within the library. A maximum of 2 items can be borrowed at a time.

Periodicals Collection

The collection includes academic journals, and trade and industry publications. The journals are shelved alphabetically by title and are not available for loan.

Rare Books

This includes rare and historic books relating to horticulture and the history of gardening. The collection includes items which have a historical connection to the Burnley Campus (previously the Victorian College of Agriculture and Horticulture).

Videos

The majority of the videos are available for restricted loan periods. Loans conditions include 7 day renewable, overnight non-renewable and library use only.

Compactus

The compactus contains copies of older books which can be borrowed for a 28 day renewable loan.
