Reciprocal borrowing from Victorian universities (CAVAL)
The CAVAL reciprocal borrowing program is a Victorian program which allows staff and students to borrow in person from participating universities and institutions.
How to borrow using the CAVAL reciprocal borrowing program
Student or staff of participating institutions wishing to borrow from the University of Melbourne
Bring your current university ID card to the service desk of any of our libraries, or bring photo ID and be able to log into the staff or student portal of your home institution.
University of Melbourne staff or student wishing to borrow at another university
Please check access and registration instructions for the different libraries before going to another institution. Pre-registration may be necessary.
Your CAVAL card will be valid for 1 year; it expires on the 28th Feb the following year. After that time you will need to register again if you wish to continue to borrow at that institution.
