In her own words - Kathryn Lindsay
The cadetship program has given me the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working as a HEW Level 5 Librarian full-time while concurrently completing the Graduate Diploma in Information Management at RMIT part-time.
Based in a single library branch, I have been involved in many aspects of the running of the library, including collection management, working at the reference desk and developing information literacy tutorials.
In addition, I have completed placements in many different departments, including acquisitions, cataloguing and library systems.
The best part about the program is that I am frequently faced with new challenges and, as a result, I have developed new skills rapidly. I have found the cadetship program to be intellectually stimulating and exciting, and am looking forward to the challenges the program will bring in the New Year.
