Cultural Collections Projects Program

The Cultural Collections Projects Program enables students, alumni and volunteers to work behind the scenes with the University's many cultural collections. See the Cultural Collections projects web page for details.

Library and Information Professional placements (TAFE or University)

The Library supports the profession by providing placements for Library and Information students. Placements take place in block mode for three weeks at the end of September to mid October. Library school coordinators should contact Sandra Woods (Manager, Library Programs) regarding Professional LIS placement applications by no later than the end of May of each year.

Professional Library Cadetship Program

This program provides a fantastic opportunity for cadets to be paid whilst gaining valuable professional experience at one of Australia's top academic libraries whilst studying. See the Professional Cadetship page for details.

Employment at the University of Melbourne Library

Paid employment positions in the Library are generally managed through the University of Melbourne Human Resources department. For further information see the University's Careers web site.

Most years, Student Library Assistants (SLAs) or Student IT interns (SITs) are employed casually to work at any of our Library Student IT service desks, shelve materials into collections and provide peer assistance to students. SLAs must be in their 2nd year or beyond in their studies at the University of Melbourne and SITs must also be current University of Melbourne students.
